Khurtsidze Improved the Record of Georgian Championship

 

At the 70th Georgian Women Chess Championship which was held in the Tbilisi Chess Palace  was named after Nona Gaprindashvili.

Tournament prize money was 16000 GEL and this amount was assessed to players who took prize places I-V.

The fate of first place was decided in the last round. The champion had to emerge from the meeting of the two Nino Khurtsidze-and Baciashvili. Before the final round was 8 points and Khurtsidze it at half point ahead of their nearest rival  Batsiashvili. Melia  and Lomineishvili took the 3rd-4th places.

On the basis of provisions for the tournament Championship, and a draw was enough Khurtsidze and Batsiashvili to win prize places. Khurtsidze was able to achieve the desired result, completing the game in a tie, and won the gold medal together with 5000 GEL and the right to speak for the national team of Georgia, as well as at the individual Championship and Championship of Georgia-71.

Khurtsidze, who has the highest rating among contestants (2428 points total), became champion of Georgia for the sixth time and this has improved her record and Lomineishvili (it should be noted that once, in 1998, she won and the Championship of Georgia among men).

She is the only chess player, not a single victim at the tournament.

With regard to Batsiashvili champion, she won the silver medal together with the right to speak at the individual Championship and Championship of Georgia.

In the last round Lomineishvili  lost with Gvetadze and took the 5th place and won 1500 GEL tossing Maka Purtseladze won and finished third, earning a bronze medal with 3500 GEL and the right to speak at 71-Georgia Championship.

The prize will be presented at the awards.

After the defeat in the penultimate round of outsider Kobeshvidze, Sopho Guramishvili played with great zeal against Inga Khurtsilava, won with 4-th place has earned 2000 GEL.

The remaining parties have won Mari Arabidze Kobeshvidze and Anna Kutsava and Sofo Khukhashvili.

Final standings on 70 national championship is as follows:
