The 8th round of the Delhi chess tournament turned out successful for the Georgian chess players. Two of them celebrated victories and one played draw.
Levan Pantsulaia (2614) defeated Ratnakaran (India, 2475) and is in the 12th place with 5.5 points.
Merab Gagunashvili is in the 9th place with the 5.5 points. He played draw with Chakkravarthy Deepan (India, 2475).
Tornike Sanikidze (2541) played draw with Shivananda (India, 2331) and is in the 29th place with 5.0 points.
In the 9th round Pantsulaia will face Laxman (India, 2455), Gagunashvili – Murali Karthikeyan (India, 2472) and Sanikidze – Sameer Kathamale (India, 2351).
Abhijeet Gupta of India (2606) has the best chance to win the tournament. He earned 7.0 points in 8 rounds and is one point ahead of his nearest opponents.
