Zurab Datunashvili (75 kg) and Vladimer Gegeshidze (85 kg), members of the Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team, won the first fights at World Championship in Tashkent.

Datunashvili beat Arkadiusz Kulynycz of Poland 8:0 and Valery Palenski of Belarus 4:2.

Vladimer Gegeshidze won over Hristo Marinov of Bulgaria 4:3.
