Vienna Thriller: Georgian U-17 Team Beat Ireland 3:0

On Wednesday Georgian U-17 team held the second match of elite round against Ireland in Austria. The Georgians beat the opponent 3:0. Referee showed yellow card to 7 football players and sent off 2 of them. Two days ago “Crusaders” lost to Serbia 0:2. The Irish defeated Austria 1:0. It was cloudy weather and -2 degree in Vienna. The Georgians had advantage in the first half but both teams could have scored goal.

The second half turned out different. Everything was decided in 8 minutes. At the 54th minute Luka Zarandia of “Lokomotive” Tbilisi scored goal. Irish defender Pierce Mitchell received the second yellow card and left the field. In one minute Irish goalkeeper Peter Burke pushed Roman Chanturia in the penalty area. The referee sent off the goalkeeper and awarded penalty. Grego-Cox left the field and substitute goalkeeper Harry Doherty stood in the goal. The Irish team which was left with 9 football players could do nothing against the Georgians. “Crusaders” scored other two goals. First Ilia Kerdzevadze scored and then – Grigol Chabradze. Finally, the match ended up 3:0 in the favor of the Georgians.

Our team improved the tournament situation. Today Austria will play against Serbia at 22:00.
