In the first round of the Cincinnati tournament (2 369 000 USD) Anna Tatishvili played No.16 seed Maria Kirilenko of Russia for nearly 3 hours but in spite of the victory in the first set, the Georgian lost – 6:4, 6:7 (4:7), 6:7 (4:7).

The Georgian had a good chance of beating the Russian. She even made more breaks than Kirilenko (4:3). However experience of Kirilenko worked on tie-break. Tatishvili served 8 aces and had 6 double faults.
