One round remained in Latvian Championship and “Ventspils” of Tornike Tarkhnishvili should decide the fate of the Championship, which will visit “Daugava” Riga and if wins, it will take the 1st place and if not, then the champion will be “Skonto”, coached by Tamaz Pertia. It is strange, but the team of Pertia did not lose a game this season – 18 wins, 8 draws and the balls 68:9.
After winning over “Spartak” 3:0 in previous round, Pertia told at the press conference that he is looking forward to the end of the season, then he must clear up some issues:
- We could win much larger difference in this match. We made “Ventspils” disappointed. As I know, there has been solemnly brought the cup. In the final round “Ventspils” faces “Daugava”, which lost against outsider in this round. Let’s see, what happens in the final round. A lot of things will be depended on the conscience of “Daugava”. I am waiting when the Championship ends, because I must learn what is happening in the Latvian football. I see that something happens and I could not found out what. Let’s see how the season ends.
- What do you mean?
- You know it perfectly too. Look at the results. Look, how many goals are scored and by whom. I knew it beforehand. I told to my player Karashauski, if you do not score today, Kavalowski (“Daugavspils”) will move ahead. Indeed, Kavalowski made 3 hat-tricks: the first hat-trick in his career. If you do not believe that I told this to my players ask them yourself. Federation was able to see the game and not to bring the Cup. “Ventspils” would have become a champion 10 rounds earlier. Why? I will tell you: they does not know what is the problem. They does not know what does it mean when the player did not take salary during 3-4 months. Today my players play only for enthusiasm. I bow my head before them. Why people do not love me? That is because I am telling always the truth. When everybody tells the truth, then Latvian Championship will become good. Today I am disappointed that the Cup got “Ventspils”. How do they know, perhaps it was draw?
- Will you stay in “Skonto” after the end of the season?
- We have an agreement. Indrikson and Kolesnicenko (leaders of “Skonto”) are those people, who support the club till the end. If they were not real fans of football, now we would be in the 6th place. I will not go in such manner to make them unhappy.
- You say that the players have not received the salary during 3-4 months. Do you receive?
- What do you think? Of course not. Or everybody gets, or – nobody.
- We wish you to stay as long as possible in Latvian football, because we do not have a lot of specialists like you. If the frozen funds will be used for the club and the crisis will end, will you stay?
- To tell the truth, I do not know. I am not good at financial issue. My job is the training process and to prepare the team well. If this arranges, probably I will stay. “Skonto” has such leadership, who think for 24 hours about football and I will not act badly against them.
