In the first round of Shymkent tournament (10 000 USD) Aleksandre Metreveli defeated Kuatbek Abiyev of Kazakhstan 6:1, 6:2 and made through to 1/8 final where he will face another host Roman Khassanov.

Unfortunately, Giorgi Javakhishvili and Giorgi Tsivadze finished participation in the tournament. Javakhishvili lost to Yaraslau Shyla of Belarus 2:6, 3:6 and Tsivadze – to Ronald Slobodchikov of Russia. The score was 3:6, 0:3 when the Georgian retired.
