Georgian tennis player Sopo Shapatava participates successfully at the international tournament in French Croissy-Beaubourg (prize fund 50 000 USD).
In the first circle of Open GDF Suez Seine et Marne’s qualifying draw Shapatava (No.9 seed) won over Hungarian Reka-Luca Yan 6:4, 6:4, then overcame Italian Julia Gatto-Moticone 7:6 (7:4), 4:6, 6:3 and in the decisive match beat Latvian Diana Marcinkevica (No.3 seed) 6:2, 6:4.
In the main draw the opponent of Sopo will be French Osean Dodin, so the Georgian has a great chance to continue successful participation.
In doubles Shapatava and German Kristina Shakovets lost to French duet – Juli Koin and Paulin Parmentie 1:6, 4:6.
Another 10-thousands tournament started in Antalya, Turkey. Sopo Kvatsabaia won over French Sofi Arnuti 6:3, 6:3, then she overcame Bulgarian Yulia Terziiska 6:2, 6:4 and in the decisive meeting the Georgian faces Dutch Bibian Shuph.
Ekaterine Gorgodze is in main draw, who has the 8th ranking and in the initial round she will face Slovak Chantal Skamlova. In the doubles tournament Gorgodze and Kvatsabaia will play against Kazakh-Russian tandem (Zhumamukhambetova-Shaydulina).
