The Best Result - the Seventh Place

 

The Georgian judo team finished the first day of Samsun Grand Prix without medal. Today the Georgian delegation had representatives in 60 and 66 kg. Lukhum Chkhvimiani, Lasha Giunashvili (both 60 kg), Tornike Tatarashvili and Mindia Liluashvili (66 kg) wrestled in the name of Georgia.

Tatarashvili achieved the best result – he defeated Tarlan Karimov of Azerbaijan, Dzmitry Shershan of Belarus.

In ¼ final Tatarashvili lost to Davit Larose of France. In bronze semifinal the Georgian lost to Colin Oates of Great Britain and finally, took the 7th place.

In this weight class Liluashvili held two fights. He beat Sebastian Seidl of Germany by waza-ari. In 1/8 final the Georgian failed to Loic Korval of France.

In 60 kg the Georgians started participation from the second round and both of them lost 1/8 final.

Lukhum Chkhvimiani won over Michael Iten of Switzerland 3:2. But then, he lost to Ilgar Mushkiyev of Azerbaijan.

Lasha Giunashvili failed to Robert Mshvidobadze of Russia by waza-ari. Before that the Georgian defeated Andrejs Magers of Latvia.

Tomorrow champions and prize winners will be found out in male 73 and 81 kg and female 63 and 70 kg. The following judokas will wrestle in the name of Georgia: Zebeda Rekhviashvili, Lasha Shavdatuashvili (both 73 kg), Ushangi Margiani (81 kg) and Shorena Sharadze (63 kg).

The preliminary stage will start at 12:00 Tbilisi time.
