The Georgian women’s tennis team started Fed Cup Group II of Euro-African zone with victory.

The Georgian tennis players defeated Egypt 3:0.

Ekaterine Gorgodze (world No.376) beat Sandra Samir (no ranking) 7:5, 6:3. Sofia Shapatava (No.200) won over Mayar Sherif (No.719) 6:1, 6:1. In doubles Oksana Kalashnikova (No.308) and Shapatava defeated Sherif and Ola Abou Zekry (No.954) 6:2, 6:3.

Two-two best teams from the groups will be paired in semifinals. Finalists will promote to Group I.
