Georgians Have Only a Bronze Chance

 

Levan Kelekhsashvili (66 kg) and Davit Kerashvili (96 kg), members of the Georgian freestyle wrestling team, will wrestle for bronze medals at World Championship. Current European champion Giorgi Edisherashvili lost ¼ final.

Kelekhsashvili defeated Arun Kumar of India (8:0), Ayad Ibrahim Khalil of Egypt (8:1) and Aleksandr Kantoyev of Belarus (7:5). In semifinal he lost to David Safaryan of Armenia 5:6. In repechage final Kelekhsashvili will face Magomed Kurbanaliev of Russia.

Kerashvili lost gold-silver chance in ¼ final where he lost to Reza Yazdani of Iran (2:8). Before that the Georgian beat Jae-Gang Kim of South Korea (2:1) and Egzon Shala of Albania (12:5). In “bronze semifinal” Kerashvili won over Ivan Yankouski of Belarus (9:7). In the decisive fight he will wrestle Pavlo Oliynyk of Ukraine.

The final block will start at 21:00 Tbilisi time.
