The Georgians Could not Overcome the Kazakh-Uzbekistani Obstacles

 

The first day of Baku Grand Slam turned out unsuccessful for the Georgian judo team. The judokas of Irakli Uznadze finished participation in the morning program.

Today champions and prize winners will be found out in 60 and 66 kg. Four judokas wrestled in the name of Georgia. Shalva Kardava (66 kg) had the best result from the Georgians. He beat Zsolt Gorjanacz of Hungary by waza-ari but then lost to Colin Oates of Great Britain. In repechage the Georgian judoka lost to Yeldos Zhumakanov of Kazakhstan and finally, took the 7th place.

Tristan Peikrishvili also wrestled in 66 kg but he failed to Zhansay Smagulov of Kazakhstan by waza-ari.

Lukhum Chkhvimiani (60 kg) also failed to the first opponent – Jeroen Mooren of Holland.

George Mesablishvili also wrestled in 60 kg. In the first round he won over Begli Meretgeldiyev of Turkmenistan. But then the Georgian lost to Sharafuddin Lutfillaev of Uzbekistan.

Tomorrow champions will be found out in 73 and 81 kg and the day after tomorrow – in 90, 100 and +100 kg.
