The Georgian women’s chess team celebrated three victories in a row at the 41st Olympiad and is among the leaders.
In the 3rd round the Georgians defeated Italy 3.5:0.5. Nana Dzagnidze (2550) beat Olga Zimina (2327), Bela Khotenashvili (2494) – Marina Brunello (2281), Salome Melia (2475) – Elena Sedina (2291) and Nino Batsiashvili (2435) – Tea Gueci (2074).
The Georgian women’s team has 6.0 points and is in the 9th place. The following countries are ahead of Georgia: Iran, China, Armenia, Russia, Indonesia, Netherlands, Hungary, Cuba, Slovakia, Azerbaijan and Germany.
In the 4th round the Georgian ladies will face Netherlands.
The Georgian men’s team played 2:2 with Turkey. Baadur Jobava (2713) played draw with Dragan Solak (2632), Mikheil Mchedlishvili (2618) – with Emre Can (2529), Levan Pantsulaia (2581) – with Mustafa Yilmaz (2569) and Konstantine Shanava (2563) – with Alexander Ipatov (2614).
The Georgian team is in the 13th place with 5.0 points. The following countries are leading with 6.0 points: France, Serbia, Russia, Uzbekistan, Netherlands, Romania, China, Azerbaijan, Israel, Bulgaria and Czech Republic.
In the 4th round the Georgian chess players will face Mexico.
