Two Gold and Two Bronze Chances

All four members of the Georgian judo team continue participating in European Championship which is underway in Budapest. Nugzar Tatalashvili (73kg) and Avtandil Chrikishvili (81kg) made through to semifinal. Zebeda Rekhviashvili (73kg) and Levan Tsiklauri (81kg) will wrestle in repechage.

In 1/8 final Tatalashvili gained yuko against Belarusian Alexey Ramanchuk. Before the final siren the Georgian gained ippon. In ¼ final Tatalashvili beat Murat Kodzokov of Russia.

In 1/8 final Chrikishvili defeated Carlos Luz of Portugal. In ¼ final the Georgian won over Srdan Mrvaljevic of Montenegro by ippon in gold time.

In 1/8 final Rekhviashvili wrestled against Volodymyr Soroka of Ukraine and advanced by yuko at the second minute. Finally, the Georgian won. In ¼ final Rekhviashvili lost to Pierre Duprat of France by ippon.

In 1/8 final Tsiklauri won over Laszlo Csoknyai but in ¼ final he lost to Tomislav Marijanovic of Croatia by ippon.

In semifinal Tatalashvili will wrestle against Dirk van Tichelt of Belgium and Chrikishvili – against Joachim Bottieau of Belgium. In repechage semifinal Rekhviashvili will wrestle against Musa Mogushkov of Russia and Tsiklauri – against Vitali Dudchyk of Ukraine.

The final block will start at 17:25 Tbilisi time.
