Liparteliani: "The Whole Season Is Ahead"

Varlam Liparteliani, member of the Georgian judo team, will need two weeks for the treatment of his injury. Official Facebook page of the Georgian Judo Federation released this information. The Georgian judoka (90 kg) injured his leg while wrestling Marc Odenthal of Germany in semifinal of Paris Grand Slam. Despite the injury, Liparteliani won over the German. He could not wrestle in the final and won silver medal.

“Varlam Liparteliani has a thigh muscle injury and a little hematoma but it is not serious. He will need a two-week treatment after arriving in Georgia” – stated Zurab Kakhabrishvili, doctor of the Georgian judo team.

Liparteliani mentioned he took painkillers before the final but coaches and doctors did not take a risk.

“If it had been World Championship or Olympic Games, I could have taken a risk but the whole season and more important tournaments are ahead” – added Varlam Liparteliani.
