Kalashnikova Overcame the First Round in Paris

Shapatava is in quarter-final of the Moscow tournament

 

Like Anna Tatishvili, Oksana Kalashnikova managed to overcome the first round in doubles draw of the French Open. The Georgian tennis player and Alicja Rosolska of Poland defeated the Ukrainian-British duet (Buryachok-Watson) 3:6, 6:4, 7:5.

Kalashnikova and Rosolska earned 16 ranking points. In the second round they will play against either the Taiwan-Chinese or the American-Bosnian duet.

Anna Tatishvili is also in the second round. The Georgian and Belarusian Olga Govortsova will play against No.3 seed Russian-Slovak duet (Petrova-Srebotnik).

Sofia Shapatava is successfully competing in the Moscow tournament (Russia, 25 000 USD). In the second round No.6 seed Georgian tennis player beat Margarita Lazareva of Russia 6:2, 6:1. In ¼ final Sofia will play against Marina Melnikova of Russia.

In doubles draw No.2 seed duet of Shapatava and Belarusian Ilona Kremen won over Russian Saidova and Ukrainian Shkudun 6:4, 6:3 but in ¼ final they lost to Natela Dzalamidze of Russia and Anna Zaja of Germany 6:7 (5:7), 7:6 (7:5), 4:10.

Nikoloz Basilashvili lost in ¼ final of the Moscow men’s tournament (15 000 USD). In 1/8 fianl the Georgian top seed beat Egor Gerasimov of Belarus 3:6, 6:4, 6:3 but then lost to Victor Baluda of Russia 6:1, 5:7, 4:6.

The Georgian girls finished participation in the Adana tournament (Turkey, 10 000 USD). In 1/8 final Mariam Bolkvadze lost to Olga Ianchuk of Ukraine 7:6 (7:5), 3:6, 2:6.
