Kalashnikova Is in the Main Draw of Baku Cup

Tatishvili Returned to WTA Top 100

 

Georgian tennis player Oksana Kalashnikova won the second qualifying match of Baku international tournament (235 000 USD) and made through to the main draw. Oksana earned 10 ranking points.

In the first round Oksana defeated compatriot Tamar Chalaganidze 6:0, 6:0. Today she won over Oleksandra Korashvili of Ukraine 6:2, 6:1.

It is worth mentioning that the Georgian tennis player is lucky in the main draw too. Tomorrow she will face Tereza Martincova of Czech Republic, one of the winners of the qualifying draw.

Martincoca defeated Maia Katsitadze of Russia (6:2, 6:3) and Ysaline Bonaventure of Belgium (6:2, 7:5). If Kalashnikova beats Martincova, she will play Tadea Majeric of Slovenia in 1/8 final. Majeric won over No.5 seed Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic 7:5, 6:4.

Georgian top seed Anna Tatishvili will face Nastassja Burnett of Italy tomorrow. In case of victory, Anna will play either No.7 seed Elina Svitolina of Ukraine or Aleksandra Krunic of Serbia.

In doubles draw Kalashnikova and Irina Buryachok of Ukraine will face Cadantu of Romania and Spaniard Ferrer Suarez. Tatishvili and Serbian Vesna Dolonc will play Uzbek Sharipova and Azerbaijani Farhad. Chalaganidze and Azerbaijani Jafarova will face Belarusian Kremen and Russian Melnikova.

Sofia Shapatava will participate in the Astana tournament (Kazakhstan, 100 000 USD). In the first round Sofia will play Cagla Buyukakcay of Turkey. In doubles draw Shapatava and Ksenia Palkina of Kyrgyzstan lost to the Thai duet 2:6, 3:6.

Nikoloz Basilashvili will compete in the Astana men’s tournament (125 000 USD). The Georgian tennis player who is in the 312th place on ATP ranking will face Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan of India. In case of victory, he will play either Kravchuk of Russia or Gras of Italy.

Anna Tatishvili returned to WTA Top 100. She is in the 95th place with 678 points. There are 7 Georgian girls on WTA ranking:
