Gia Gugava, head coach of Georgian judo youth team, named the composition for the World Championship. The Georgian team will participate at the competition with 10 athletes. The tournament will take place in Miami on October 22-26.
Gugava made only two changes in the composition, which wrestled at the European Championship (September 19-21, Bucharest). Gela Kelikhashvili and Beka Bibliani (both 66kg) will replace Leri Chelidze (55kg) and Giorgi Gugulashvili (66kg).
Georgian U-21 team arrived in Gori on September 29 to have a final meeting. They will return in Tbilisi on October 10 and on October 12 will leave for USA.
“After the European Championship, our main objective is that guys maintain their optimal athletic uniforms. This is not easy, because there is one-month interval between season’s two major tournaments. Moreover, the World Championship takes place very far from Europe. Which is why, we decided to arrive in Miami 1 week earlier before the Championship starts in order to get over the problem of acclimatization” – head coach of the youth team told to “World Sport”.
