World Mind Sports Games (chess, bridge, draught, go and xiangqi) are underway in the capital of China, Beijing. Chess tournament is the most interesting for Georgian fans. Baadur Jobava and Bela Khotenashvili are participating in it.
Rapid chess tournament has already ended up. 7 rounds were held. The Georgians could not get in Top 3. Jobava beat Mamediarov of Azerbaijan, Giri of India and Viorel Bologan. He played draw with Grischuk of Russia, lost to Kamsky of America, Ding of China and Morozevich of Russia. Baadur earned 3.5 points.
Laurent Fressinet of France became champion. He earned 5.5 points and had better additional data than American Nakamura. Grischuk of Russia took the third place with 4.5 points.
Ukrainian Lahno, Chinese Hou and Indian Koneru earned 5-5 points at women’s tournament. They shared the first-third places.
As for Khotenashvili, she earned 1.0 point. Bela played draw with Lithuanian Cmilyte and Qatari Zhu. The Georgian lost to Indian Dronavalli, Polish Socko, Chinese Zhao, American Zatonskih and Armenian Danielian.
According to the regulations, the participants will compete in blitz and “blindfold” chess. In blitz the participants will hold 30 games and winner will be found out on December 17. Champion of “blindfold” will be named on December 18 after 7 rounds.
