“Iberia Star”, champion of Georgia, was unable to overcome the main round of UEFA Futsal Cup. The Georgian sportsmen were able to play draw in the final meeting against the hosts of 2nd group “Dior Eto”, but they could not and lost 1:3 and took the 3rd place. For going through the elite round, these top two teams were required a meeting between each other.
In the first match of the last round, “Sarajevo” Bosnia destroyed the outsider “Varna” Bulgaria 8:4, after which “Iberia Star” had no right to lose to Hungary.
Irakli Todua scored at the 30th minute in the 2nd half of the match against “Dior Eto”, then the own goal of Aleksandre Dzabiridze was followed. And in the remaining time, Lodi and Brazilian Fabio Aguilar fixed the final score – 3:1.
It should be said, that the champion of Hungary had a big advantage during the match and it is also reflected in the statistics. The hosts kicked the goal of Iberia 50 times, and the analogous showing of the guests was 16.
In a result, “Dior Eto” took the first place with 9 points, “Sarajevo” and “Iberia Star” earned 4-4 points, but the representative of Bosnia and Herzegovina had the better goal difference and went through the next round.
As for “Iberia Star”, nothing remains expect to express gratitude to this team. After those events, which occurred with the current champion of Georgia, the team showed a good result and until the last seconds they were keeping the chance of going through the elite round.
