Irakli Uznadze, head coach of Georgian judo team, named the composition for the Grand Prix, which takes place at Tbilisi sports palace on March 21-23. Traditionally, the host country of the tournament has a right to input 4 athletes in each weight class on the list and obviously head coach of Georgian team used this quota maximally. Uznadze input 29 athletes on the list and will decrease by one in the coming days. The specialist makes a choice between Giorgi Nozadze and Revaz Chikoidze (both 100 kg).
As it was expected, the Georgian team will take part with the most powerful composition in the sports palace. Especially interesting is probably 73 kg, where Lasha Shavdatuashvili also will fit kimono together with Nugzar Tatalashvili and Zebeda Rekhviashvili. London Olympics champion (66kg) is fighting to settle in this weight category and every rating point which he takes in each tournament has a gold price tag for him.
On the first day of the Tbilisi Grand Prix – on March 21 the medals will be awarded in 60 and 66 kg weight categories. On March 22 – in 73 and 81 kgs and on March 23 – in 90, 100 and +100.
Grand Prix prize fund is 100 000 USD.
