Giorgi Tsirekidze Wrestling for Bronze

 

Giorgi Tsirekidze, member of the Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team, made through to repechage final of European Championship which is under way in the city of Finland, Vantaa.

The Georgian wrestler (80 kg) lost to Peter Bacsi of Hungary in semifinal of the main draw. Before that, Tsirekidze won over Pascal Eisele of Germany, Daniel Alexandrov of Bulgaria and Hrach Hovhannisyan of Armenia. In “bronze final” the Georgian will wrestle Zakarias Berg of Sweden.

Robert Kobliashvili (85 kg) was one win away from wrestling in the evening program. He beat Pavel Powada of Czech Republic and Ahmet Yildirim of Turkey. Unfortunately, Kobliashvili lost to Rami Hietaniemi of Finland in ¼ final. In “repechage semifinal” the Georgian failed to Damian Janikowski of Poland 1:3.

Manuchar Tskhadaia (71 kg) and Zurab Datunashvili (75 kg) also wrestled on the mat. However, both of them lost the first round.

Tskhadaia lost to Chingiz Labazanov of Russia. Datunashvili defeated Jan Potter of Germany. But he failed to Seref Tufenk of Turkey in 1/8 final.  

The final block will start at 19:00.
