Gela Sanaia: "I Think the Georgian Clubs cannot Make Plans for more than Two Months"

Gela Sanaia, former head coach of “Metalurgi” Rustavi, told “World Sport” that it is better for him and “Metalurgi” to cease partnership.

- According to the website of “Metalurgi”, you left the club after reaching agreement with the managers of the club. Did you want to leave the club or was it a demand of the club’s owners?

- We made a joint decision. I think it is better for me and “Metalurgi” because the club does not have finances. We sat down, talked and that is all.

- When you were presented, they talked about a 3-year project. Zaza Dolidze, director of the club, stated “Metalurgi” would hold the season with one coach…

- I think the Georgian clubs cannot make plans for more than two months. Who thought the club would have such financial problems? There were problems during the season and the football players did not received premiums. However, we did not talk about it. These problems worsened and the financial situation has changed in the club.

- Was it the only problem or were the managers of the club dissatisfied with the result?

- The club’s budget has been cut. Perhaps, the result might have been better. Injuries, “yellow-red” cards did not let us do it. There were problems with referees. I have said something about the referees and I was fined like nobody else has ever been. Finances are the real reason.

- It is not good to be unemployed. What do you plan to do?

- It has not happened for the first time. Hopefully, I will have offers. Now I do not have contract.
