The 2014 season in judo starts with experimental event – tomorrow European and Asian teams will face each other in Tyumen (Russia). International Judo Federation named symbolic teams several weeks ago and three Georgians were in men’s team: Avtandil Chrikishvili (81 kg), Varlam Liparteliani (90 kg) and Adam Okruashvili (+100 kg). However, Okruashvili was replaced by titled Alexander Mikhaylin of Russia who is in the 20th place in the ranking.
Besides Mikhaylin, the Russian team will have Arsen Galstyan (60 kg) who is in the 19th place. Giorgii Zantaraia of Ukraine (66 kg), Dex Elmont (73 kg) and Henk Grol (100 kg) are also in the European team.
According to the regulations, Europe and Asia will face each other with mixed teams.
Prize money of the tournament is 128 000 USD and winner team will earn 100 000 USD.
