Judo team leaves for Brazil

The Georgian Judo team went to Brazil to compete in the world championship. The main event will begin on 26 August in Rio de Janeiro and will end on 1st September. The Georgian team will arrive in Brazil a week earlier and they will continue their preparation there.

The championship voting will take part on 25 August. The wrestlers in 60kg weight categories will wrestle on 26 August. The boys will compete in each weight category every day, except 31 August, on this day the wrestlers in 100kg and +100kg weight categories will wrestle. Team competition will be held on 1st September.

124 countries registered for the participation in the world championship in the international judo federation, the staff of Georgian team is following: 60kg – Amiran Papinashvili, 66kg – Lasha Shavdatuashvili, 73kg – Zebeda Rekhviashvili, Nugzar Tatalashvili, 81kg – Avtandil Chrikashvili, Levan Tsiklauri, 90kg – Varlam Liparteliani, 100kg – Levan Jorjoliani, +100kg – Adam Okruashvili.

Nodar Metreveli (100) joined the team with his own expense at the end of the tournament. He will compete in the team championship.
