Dzagnidze Celebrated the First Victory at Grand Prix

 

Nana Dzagnidze (2550), leader of the Georgian women’s team, celebrated the first victory at the 4th stage of Grand Prix which is under way in Khanty-Mansiysk. Nana defeated Tatiana Kosintseva of Russia (2496) and is in the 9th place with 1.5 points.

On Sunday the participants of Grand Prix has a day off. On Monday Dzagnidze will play outsider Tuvshintugs Batchimeg (Mongolia, 2340).

Yifan Hou of China (2618) is leading the tournament. She played draw with Kateryna Lahno of Ukraine (2543) and earned 3.5 points.

Dzagnidze has participated in two stages before.

Nana shared III-IV places in Geneva (Switzerland) and II-III places in Dilijan (Armenia). Humpy Koneru of India is leading with 320 points. Bela Khotenashvili of Georgia is in the second place with 290 points.

Each chess player must participate in four-four tournaments.

Grand Prix Series consist of 6 stages. Prize money of each stage if 60 000 EUR.

V – 5 000 (80)

VI – 4 500 (70)

11 rounds will be held at Khanty-Mansiysk Grand Prix. The playing days are April 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20 and 21. The participants will have a rest on April 13 and 18.

Tbilisi (18 June-2 July) and Erdenet (24 August-7 September) will host the rest stages of Grand Prix.
