Jobava Overcame the First Round

Georgian chess player Baadur Jobava (2696) overcame the first round of World Cup 2013 in Tromso, Norway. Jobava defeated Martyn Kravtsiv of Ukraine (2607) in two added games (25 minutes+10 seconds) and won 3:1.

64 best chess players continue competing in World Cup. They will hold the next round games on 14-15 August. Tie-break is planned on 16 August. Anton Korobov of Ukraine (2720) will be the next opponent of Jobava. He won over Vasif Durarbayli of Azerbaijan (2567) 3:1.

Prize money of World Cup is 1 600 000 USD. Champion will earn 120 000 USD. The chess players who lost the first round will gain little money – 6 000 USD.
