Jobava and Javakhishvili at the European Club Championship

 

Two Georgian chess players participate in the current European Club Championship in Rhodes (Greece). Baadur Jobava (2694), leader of Georgian team, plays for Rostov club (PGMB) and Lela Javakhishvili (2435), winner of 2008 Chess Olympiad, plays in the name of Armenian “Mika”.

In the first meeting Jobava overcame Dutch Roland Pruijser (2529), Javakhishvili has 1.5 points, she won over Latvian Gintare Paulauskates (2053) and played draw with Pia Kramling (Sweden, 2515), former champion of Europe.

At the Championship of “Old Continent”, 53 men’s and 11 women’s teams are competing. The tournament consists of 7 rounds Swiss System and will last till October 26. There are 6 main and 2 spare participants in men’s team and 4 main and 2 spare in women’s.
