The Second Stage of Grand Prix Started in Dilijan

 

The second tournament of Grand Prix 2013-14 has started in the city of Armenia, Dilijan. Georgian chess players Nana Dzagnidze (2550) and Bela Khotenashvili (2531) are competing in the tournament.

Nana and Bela participated in the first tournament perfectly. Khotenashvili took the first place and earned 160 points. Dzagnidze shared the third-fourth places with Tatiana Kosintseva of Russia (2526) and earned 100 points.

The first round of the Dilijan tournament turned out unsuccessful. The Georgian chess player played Kosintseva with black pieces and lost. Dzagnidze defeated Tuvshintugs Batchimeg of Mongolia (2316) with black pieces.

In the second round Khotenashvili will play with black pieces and Viktorija Cmilyte of Lithuanian (2511) will be her opponent. Dzagnidze will play Dronavalli Harika of India (2491) with white pieces. Four games ended up draw: Girya (Russia, 2463) played draw with Cmilyte, Harika – Koneru (India, 2597), Danielian (Armeniam 2475) – Stefanova (Bulgaria, 2531) and Ushenina (Russia, 2499) – Muzychuk (Slovenia, 2593).

Each chess player must participate in four-four tournaments of Grand Prix. V stage will be hosted by Tbilisi. The upcoming tournament will be held from June 18 to July 2 in 2014.

Grand Prix consists of six stages. 60 000 EUR is for each stage: I place – 10 000 EUR (+160 points), II – 8 250 (+130), III – 6 750 (+120), IV – 5 750 (+90), V – 5 000 (+80), VI – 4 500 (+70), VII – 4 250 (+60), VIII – 4 000 (+50), IX – 3 250 (+40), X – 3 000 (+30), XI – 2 750 (+20), XII – 2 500 (+10).

Winner of Grand Prix will play against champion of the planet in 2015. The champion of the planet is Anna Ushenina who won the championship by knockdown system. This year Ushenina will play against Yifan Hou (China), two-time world champion and winner of Grand Prix 2011-12.
