Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team ended up participation in World Youth Championship with one silver medal. The championship took place in the capital of Bulgaria, Sofia. Shmagi Bolkvadze achieved success in 66 kg. He defeated four opponents. In final Shmagi won over Abuiazid Mantsigov of Russia.
Nika Tsetsadze (55 kg) lost to Ruben Minasian of Russia in semifinal. The Georgian could do nothing against Akan Baimaganbetov of Kazakhstan for the third place.
Irakli Shavadze (50 kg), Khvicha Chitava (60 kg), Lasha Gobadze (74 kg), Robert Kobliashvili (84 kg), Kukuri Kirtskhalia (96 kg) and Zurab Gedekhauri (120 kg) lost their first fights.
Girls will wrestle on 15-6 August and freestyle wrestlers – on 17-18 August. The following sportsmen will wrestle in the name of Georgia: Nika Tatuashvili (50 kg), Beka Bujiashvili (55 kg), Shota Partenadze (60 kg), Lasha Gigashvili (74 kg), Levan Gogrichiani (84 kg), Giorgi Kakauridze (96 kg) and Geno Petriashvili (120 kg).
