Beka Gviniashvili (90 kg), member of the Georgian junior judo team, collected all gold medals of junior championships. Cadet European and world champion won European Juniors Championship this year. Several minutes ago he became world junior champion.
The Georgian judoka (90 kg) won five fights at World Championship in Ljubljana.
Beka Gviniashvili started participation from the second round. He defeated Arpad Szakacs of Slovakia by ippon, Ramazan Malsuigenov of Russia and Mihail Marchitan of South Africa.
In ¼ final Gviniashvili beat Mihail Marchitan in one minute and half.
In semifinal Gviniashvili defeated Patryk Ciechomski of Poland. In final the Georgian won over Samat Yessen of Kazakhstan.
Lasha Taveluri of Georgia also wrestled in 90 kg but in the first round he lost to Tadej Mulec of Slovenia.
Today Beka Dongvani wrestled in 81 kg. He won over Kodo Nakano of Philippines in one minute and 23 seconds. In the second round Dongvani beat Ivaylo Ivanov of Bulgaria 3:2.
In 1/8 final Beka lost to Robin Gutsche of Germany 2:1. While wrestling, referee sent off head coach Gia Gugava because of diction. Later, the referee asked coach Guram Modebadze to sit on the tribune.
Tomorrow champions and prize winners will be found out in 100 and +100 kg. Guram Tushishvili will wrestle in 100 kg in the name of Georgia. Levan Matiashvili and Giorgi Zakariadze will wrestle in +100 kg. Unfortunately, they are in the same draw.
The preliminary stage will start at 12:00 Tbilisi time.
