“I arrived in Baku three years ago. The 80th anniversary of veteran football player Alakbar Mammadov was celebrated. I accepted invitation from Azerbaijan with great pleasure” – Aleksandre Chivadze told apasport.az.
Chivadze, Tengiz Sulakvelidze, Murtaz Khurtsilava and Kakha Tskhadadze are invited to a friendly match of veteran Azerbaijani and European football players. This match is dedicated to Heydar Aliyev, former president of Azerbaijan, and will be held on May 1.
According to the head coach of Georgian U-21 team, he is very happy to be invited to Baku:
“I am very happy that this match will be held in Baku. It is good that I will participate in this match. I am very happy to arrive in Baku. I have a lot of friends there and I will see them. Murtaz Khurtsilava and Tengiz Sulakvelidze will arrive with me. If nothing serious problem occurs, we will come for sure”.
When apasport.az told Chivadze that he will play with Jean-Pierre Papin, Bernd Schuster and Berti Vogts, the Georgian veteran joked about Vogts:
“If Vogts is in the staff, he will play then (laughs). It is good that such famous football players are invited to this match. It is a great idea to hold the match”.
