Guga Kordzalidze, the heaviest member of the Georgian national youth judo team, wrestled in the final of World Championship, but could not gain victory. In the final day of individual championship, Guram Tushishvili (100 kg) and Elene Kebadze (+78) wrestled as well. Both of the lost the competition.
On the final way, Kibordzalidze beat four opponents by ippon. He beat Canadian Martin Rigielski, Serbian Zarco Kulumi and Egyptian Ahmed Vahid in 3 minutes and Ukrainian Anton Rudnik in 4 minutes.
In final Kibordzalidze lost to Mongolian Durenbaiar Ulziibaiar.
In the main draw, Guram Tushishvili overcame Sultan Mania (Saudi Arabia) and Austrian Maximilian Hagender. In ¼ final lost Japanese Riutaro Goto by 4 shido and made through to the repechage. In the “bronze final”, he lost to Ramazan Malsuigenov of Russia.
Elene Kebadze fit kimono only once – she was involved in the competition from the second circle and lost to Ecuadorian Merlin Vivero by shido.
The team of Gia Gugava occupied the 8th place among 67 countries with 1 silver and 3 bronze medals.
The World Championship will end with team Championship. The Georgian national team arrived in United States of America. The team of Gia Gugava will be involved from the second circle (1/8 final) by facing Uzbekistan. In case of victory will face the winner among United States and Austria. We have to mention South Korea and Russia as possible opponents for semifinal.
