Medal Table at the Olympics: Georgia's Fantastic Result
The USA Overtook China with the Last Medal

The Paris 2024 Olympics has come to an end. Georgia finished the tournament with 7 medals (3 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze) and took the 24th place in the medal table.

In terms of the quality of medals, this Olympics is the best result in the history of independent Georgia and has improved the result achieved in Beijing in 2008 (3 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze). In terms of quantity, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics (8 medals) is the best again. However, the main thing at the Olympics is quality, not quantity.

Georgia is ahead of many highly developed countries both in sports and social terms. If we had had one more gold medal, our delegation would have taken the 18th place.

The USA took the first place in the medal table, overtook China with silver medals because the both teams won 40-40 gold medals.

Japan took the third place with 20 gold medals. They won 11 out of 20 medals in judo (3) and wrestling (8). The host France took the fifth place.

In total, 63 countries won gold medals and 91 countries won at least one medal of any quality.

206 countries (including athletes competing under a neutral name and a refugee team) participated in the Olympics. So, the 24th place is a really good result.
