Ilia Topuria: "It Is Important that the Voices of the Georgian People to be Heard and Respected"

Famous Georgian athletes are protesting the so-called “Russian law” bill and supporting Georgia’s European future.

Not only football players are protesting but also famous athletes of other sport. For example, first Georgian UFC champion Ilia Topuria posted an emotional letter:

“It is painful to see how the special forces are beating the protestors who are fighting for the well-being of everyone, even the police. It is important that the voice of the Georgian people to be heard and respected. It is a pity that the Georgian people still have to fight for it. By striving towards Europe, together we can build a more prosperous and peaceful future for our country”, - Topuria posted.

Shota Arveladze, former player of Georgia's national football team, posted the following on the social network:

“There has never been such occasion in history of Georgia when Russia supported us in decision which was beneficial for our country and people. That is why, no to this bill and all those initiatives which set us apart from our main goal and endangers our future”.

Tornike Shengelia, captain of Georgia's national basketball team, commented on the current events:

“For me and for us, athletes, nothing is more important than when we make the nation happy and unite them. Recently we have witnessed it at Dinamo Arena.

It is sad when I see a nation divided into several parts. There is nothing much I can do, except to hope, we will unite and all of us, will go together towards Europe!”
