Giorgi Mamardashvili, goalkeeper of the Georgia national team, made a comment after qualifying for the EURO 2024.
“Not only Betis, we also lost to Real on penalty shoot-out and then I said it would never happen again. I want to thank fans not only today but throughout this period. They supported us and we are happy for them because we made them happy.
Not only during the penalty shoot-out it was a tough match entirely. There is a lot of pressure to play in such games. It was an emotional game. We wanted to make this people happy. They deserve it.
I knew where our opponent would kick the first penalty because he kicked 4 penalties in that corner when his team needed it the most. It is difficult for me to express emotions. We will meet at the European Championship. I work hard not only on penalties but on everything and this work pays off”, - Mamardashvili said.
The Georgians will compete in Group F at EURO 2024. They will face Turkey (June 18, Dortmund), Czech Republic (June 22, Hamburg) and Portugal (June 26, Gelsenkirchen).
