Georgian sambo youth and junior teams showed a brilliant result at European Championship which was held in the city of Cyprus, Limassol, on April 11-15. Only two from 20 Georgians were left without medal.
The youth team coached by Avtandil Tsintsadze had the best result – all ten sambo wrestlers stood on the pedestal and the team took the first place.
Tornike Mezurnishvili (57kg), Lekhum Chkhvimiani (62kg), Beka Tugushi (68kg) and Ushangi Margiani (82kg) became champions of Europe. Giorgi Melkuashvili (48kg) and Guga Kibordzalidze (+100kg) won silver medals. Leri Bedinadze (52kg), Tornike Muzashvili (57kg), Ilia Manvelishvili (90kg) and Tornike Otinashvili (100kg) won bronze medals.
Tornike Nagliashvili (48kg) and Tornike Chovelidze (60kg) became champions of Europe from the junior team. Solomon Tediashvili (56kg), Giga Nozadze (70kg), Apolon Zurabiani (75kg), Irakli Gogia (81kg), Joni Chitanava (87kg) and Jemal Dabrundashvili (+87kg) won bronze medals. The junior team took the second place.
The second group of the Georgian sambo wrestlers will arrive in Tbilisi tomorrow. On April 17 they will hold a press conference.
