World Weightlifting Championship in the United States of America has finished with Georgian anthem. Lasha Talakhadze is 2-time world champion. The 24-year-old Georgian weightlifter set two new records in Anaheim.

Lasha started snatch with 210 kg. He also lifted 215 kg and 220 kg which was world record.

In clean and jerk the Georgian giant lifted 243 kg, 250 kg and 257 kg. Overall, he collected 477 kg and improved his world record with 4 kg.

American World Championship turned out to be historic for the Georgian team. Two members of the Georgian team won gold medals at World Championship for the first time. Anastasia Gottfried (90 kg) also won gold medal.

Giorgi Asanidze’s team took the third place with 5 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals.

Georgia had only 4 weightlifters at the championship.
