The head coaches of Georgian Greco-Roman and Freestyle wrestling team named the composition for the World Championship. Paris will host the main competition of 2017 on August 21-26. On the first two days Greco-Romans will participate, in the next two days the women will take part and on August 25-26 world champions and prize winners will be revealed in freestyle wrestling.
The French application was filled by the head coach of both national teams, taking the results of Tbilisi International Tournament – Kartozia-Balavadze Memorial into consideration. Giorgi Iantbelidze, head coach of freestyle team, made his choice in four weight categories. In the remaining four categories he prematurely reserved places to the medalists of European Championship 2017: Beka Lomtadze (57kg), Vladimer Khinchegashvili (61kg), Zurab Iakobishvili (65kg) and Geno Petriashvili (125kg).
Beka Rokva, coach of Greco-Roman team, will also accompany the most experienced and titled member of the team Zurab Datunashvili in France, whose participation at World Championship was once under question.
Bronze winner of Olympic Games Shmagi Bolkvadze will wrestle in 71 kg weight category.
