Gogiberashvili and Arabuli Won Bronze Medals

The Georgian Greco-Roman wrestling team won two bronze medals at European Championship which is under way in the city of Serbia, Novi Sad. Goga Gogiberashvili (66 kg) and Levan Arabuli (130 kg) won took the third place.

Goga Gogiberashvili lost the first meeting to Artem Surkov of Russia 4:7. The Russian made through to final and Gogiberashvili had a chance to wrestle in repechage where he defeated two opponents: Mateusz Lucjan Bernatek of Poland (4:3) and Atakan Yuksel of Turkey (6:3).

Levan Arabuli started participating from 1/8 final and beat Oskar Marvik of Norway (9:0). In ¼ final the Georgian fell to Riza Kayaalp of Turkey 1:3.

In repechage Arabuli won over Tamas Soos of Slovakia (8:0) and Christian John of Germany (8:0).

Leri Abuladze (59 kg) and Kukuri Kirtskhalia (98 kg) also wrestled in the name of Georgia but both of them finished participating in the morning program.

Abuladze beat Maksim Kazharski of Belarus (2:1) but then lost to Ivan Lizatovic of Croatia (5:1).

In the first round Kukuri Kirtskhalia failed to Ardo Arusaar of Estonia 1:4.

Today champions and prize winners will be revealed in the last four weight categories. Goga Apriamashvili (71 kg), Gela Bolkvadze (75 kg), Zura Datunashvili (80 kg) and Robert Kobliashvili (85 kg) will wrestle in the name of Georgia.
