The Georgian freestyle wrestlers won medals in six weight categories at the U-23 European Championships which took place in Szombathely, Hungary.
Today Shota Partenadze (61 kg), Mirza Skhulukhia (70 kg) and Geno Petriashvili (125 kg) stood on the pedestal. Partenadze and Skhulukhia took the third place and Petriashvili won gold medal.
Geno beat Salim Ercan of Turkey (12:2), Danylo Kartavyi of Ukraine (7:2), Kazbek Khubulov of Russia (10:0) and Vitali Piasniak of Belarus (10:0).
Shota Partenadze lost gold-silver chance in semifinal when he failed to Sedat Ozdemir of Turkey (3:6). Before that the Georgian defeated Ivan Molnar of Slovakia (10:0) and Mihai Esanu of Moldova (4:0). In repechage final Partenadze won over Ivan Bileichuk of Ukraine (8:0).
Mirza Skhulukhia lost the first round to Gadzhimurad Omarov of Azerbaijan (1:12). In repechage the Georgian beat Toma Vascan of Moldova (6:6) and Surkho Rashytkhanau of Belarus (9:5).
Irakli Mtsituri (86 kg) also wrestled today but he lost the first round to Arsen-Ali Musalaliev of Russia (4:9).
The Georgian team won 3 gold and 3 bronze medals at the U-23 European Championships. Yesterday Avtandil Kenchadze (74 kg) and Givi Macharashvili (97 kg) became European champions. Iveriko Julakidze (65 kg) took the third place.
Women wrestlers will compete tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and Greco-Romans – on April 1-2.
