On March 24-25 Sambo World Cup took place in Moscow, Russia.
Jondo Muzashvili, head coach of the Georgian team, took only four athletes to Russia. Fortunately, all of them won medals.
Nino Odzelashvili (-72 kg) and Elene Kebadze (+80 kg) won gold medals. Davit Loriashvili (-100 kg) lost only final and Beka Berdzenishvili (+100 kg) won bronze medal. Our women’s team took the second place.
Current European champion Nino Odzelashvili beat American and Turkish opponents. In final she defeated Russian Gurtsieva.
Elene Kebadze’s successful participation is worth mentioning. She is competing in seniors for the second year and has already become one of the best sambo wrestlers.
In final 22-year-old Georgian faced Anna Balashova of Russia who is considered to be the best athlete. Elene had negative balance with her and we are happy that this time she managed to beat Balashova.
Neither the boys wrestled badly. Davit Loriashvili, world champion 2015, went through to the final after winning two meetings. Unfortunately, he lost the final to the Russian wrestler.
Beka Berdzenishvili lost the first round to Russian Osipenko.
Overall, the Georgian team successfully competed in World Cup.
