Gold and Two Bronze from European Cup

The Georgian judoka Koba Mchedlishvili (81 kg) participated in five matches of the European Cup in Prague, won all 5 matches and became the champion. In the same weight, Tristan Mosakhlishvili won the bronze medal. Among women, Mariam Janashvili (52 kg) took the third place. The Georgian team participated at the tournament with 5 athletes and only Giga Gigauri (73 kg) and Eter Liparteliani (57 kg) stayed beyond the top three.

On the way to final, Mchedlishvili defeated Timo Cavelius of Germany, Erlan Sherov of Kyrgyzstan, Grachik Avagyan of Ukraine and Rufat Ismayilov of Azerbaijan. In the decisive meeting, he won over Martin Matijass of Germany.

In the main draw, Trinstan Mosakhlishvili won over Gaetano Palumbo of Italy, Elias Frank of Germany and Rezo Mosablishvili of Ukraine and made through to semifinal. Then, he faced Martin Matijass, but lost and switched to repechage final where defeated German Duran of Estonia.

Mariam Janashvili joined the competition from the second round and lost the gold-silver chance immediately by losing to Irem Korkmaz of Turkey. She brilliantly wrestled on bronze front – defeated Szofi Ozbas of Hungary, Pamela Denise Neubauer of Austria, Lea Markloff of Germany and Olivia Taroncher of Austria.
