License and Silver-Bronze

The first day program in wrestling ended up at the international tournament in Zrenjanin. The Georgians won two medals and one license of Olympic Games. Greco-Roman wrestler Shmagi Bolkvadze (66kg) won the license and silver medal and freestyle wrestler Zurab Iakobishvili (65kg) gained bronze.

Bolkvadze (66 kg) started with 1/8 final, where defeated Norwegian Thommesen 6:0. In ¼ final overcame Bulgarian Ivanovich (9:0), in semifinal beat Dawid Karecinski of Poland (5:0) and in final lost to Hungarian Tamas Lorincz 1:6.

The licenses and medals were defined in 59 kg as well. London Olympic silver medalist Revaz Lashkhi involved in the competition and in 1/8 final won over Dawid Ersetic of Poland 2:1. In ¼ final, the Georgian lost to Stig-Andre Berge of Norway 2:6.

As for freestyle wrestling, Zurab Iakobashvili (65 kg) faced Andriy Kvyatkovskky of Ukraine and ended up the meeting with draw – 2:2.

Before this meeting, Iakobishvili won two toughest battles over Semisorow (Germany) 6:5 and Mustafa Kaya (Turkey) 11:10. In repechage final, he overcame Niko Arouzmanidis of Greece 13:2.

Tomorrow, another three Georgians will be involved in license battle: Zurab Datunashvili (75kg), Robert Kobliashvili (85kg) and Iakob Makarashvili (74kg).
