Khinchegashvili Won Gold Medal in Las Vegas

Vladimer Khinchegashvili (57 kg) is a world champion. The Georgian freestyle wrestler beat five opponents at World Championship in Las Vegas. Besides that, he earned Rio 2016 Olympics license.

Khinchegashvili defeated Salvatore Mannino of Italy 10:0, Georgi Angelov of Bulgaria 6:1, Artas Sanaa of Kazakhstan 7:5 and Bekhbayar Erdenebat of Mongolia 10:2. In final the Georgian wrestler won over Hassan Rahimi of Iran 5:4.

Heavyweight Geno Petriashvili (125 kg) won bronze medal from Revaz Mindorashvili’s team.

In the main draw Petriashvili beat Korey Jarvis of Canada 10:0, Alen Zasieiev of Ukraine 16:8 and Aiaal Lazarev of Kyrgyzstan 16:12. In semifinal he lost gold-silver chance to Jamaladdin Magomedov of Azerbaijan 0:10.

In repechage final Petriashvili defeated Chuluunbat Jargalsaikhan of Mongolia 11:0.

Davit Tlashadze (70 kg) and Jumber Kvelashvili (74 kg) also wrestled on the mat. In the main draw Tlashadze won over Ayad Ibrahim Khalil Ibrahim of Egypt, Mostafa Rezaeifar of Austria and Takafumi Kojima of Japan. In ¼ final the Georgian failed to Hassan Aliazam Yazdanicharati of Iran 0:6. In bronze semifinal Tlashadze fell to Miroslav Stefanov Kirov of Bulgaria 2:6.

Jumber Kvelashvili lost 1/8 final to Alireza Mohammad Ghasemi of Iran 2:3. Before that, he defeated Georgi Ivanov Ivanov of Bulgaria 5:4 and Christian Alejandro Anguiano Flores of Mexico 10:0.

The Georgian freestyle wrestling team finished World Championship with one gold and 2 bronze medals. Sandro Aminashvili (86 kg) won bronze medal and earned Olympic license. Elizbar Odikadze guaranteed Rio de Janeiro by the fifth place.

Four Georgian wrestlers have already earned Olympic licenses.
