Gviniashvili Wrestling for Gold, Liparteliani - for Bronze

Georgian judokas Beka Gviniashvili and Varlam Liparteliani (90 kg) go on wrestling for medals at World Judo Championships. Gviniashvili is in semifinal and Liparteliani is in repechage semifinal.

Gviniashvili went through to ¼ final by ippons. He defeated Quedjau Nhabali of Ukraine, Patryk Ciechomski of Poland and Aleksandar Kukolj of Serbia. In ¼ final the Georgian judoka beat Mashu Baker of Japan by yuko. Beka will wrestle Kirill Denisov of Russia in semifinal.

Varlam Liparteliani lost to Dong Han Gwak of South Korea in ¼ final. Before that he won over Mihail Marchitan of the United Arab Emirates, Jacob Larsen of America and Alexandre Iddir of France. In repechage semifinal Liparteliani will face Aaron Hildebrand of Germany.

Esther Stam (70 kg) also wrestled on the Kazakhstani tatami today. She defeated Assmaa Niang of Morocco but then failed to Chizuru Arai of China.

The final session will start at 15:00 Tbilisi time.
