Georgian freestyle wrestling youth team won the only medal at the World Championship in Salvador De Bahia (Brazil). Tarzan Maisuradze (74 kg) won the bronze medal.
The Georgian wrestler ended participation in the main draw in semifinal. He lost to Russian Gaji Nabiev (1:3). Before this meeting the Georgian beat Kazakh Ierkebulan Tileu (8:4) and Belgian Omaru Abdula (5:0). In the bronze final, he won over Latvian Albert Yurchenko (5:2).
Like Tarzan Maisuradze, European bronze medal winners Robert Dingashvili (50kg), Avtandil Kenchadze (66kg) and Giorgi Chkhartishvili (84kg) participated in this Championship. The last one lost in the initial round and stayed beyond the competition. Kenchadze took the 5th place and Dingashvili – the 7th.
Like Giorgi Chkhartishvili, Giorgi Sulava (60kg) and Irakli Mtsituri (84kg) ended their participation from the first round. Edem Bolkvadze (55kg) and Beka Kandelaki (120kg) reached the ¼ final.
