The Georgian Onise Saneblidze defeated Russia’s Aliumer Tumaev by ippon and won the gold medal.

“I had lost to the Russian before. Today I fought with doubled motivation in order to win the gold medal in Tbilisi” – Saneblidze said.

The both athletes had defeated their 33 rivals before the finals. The champion overcame the Polish Eryk Ryciak, Serbia’s Stefan Micic and Oleksii Babenko of Ukraine, while the silver medalist had won victory over the Hungarian Peter Arvai, Israel’s Almog Louzoun and the Dutch Simeone Catharina.

The Georgian judoka team holds 4 gold and 4 bronze medals in general ranking.
