The Executive Committee Suspended Authority to Detainees in Match-Fixing Scandal

At the meeting on May 11, Georgian Football Federation’s Executive Committee suspended authority to suspected in match-fixing scandal (GTU president Otar Shengelia, players of “Chkherimela” Temur Sanikidze and Giorgi Goderidze, former player Davit Gendzekhadze and clubs “Chkherimela” and GTU) until the end of investigation.

The Executive Committee established Davit Gendzekhadze as a persona non-grata in the Georgian football. In particular, he banned from entering the stadium during any matches in Georgia. If football players of “Chkherimela” and Otar Shengelia cooperate with the group of GFF’s Sports Justice, then their judgment may be revised.

The Executive Committee have not received any sanctions on another four detainees: Giga Burjanadze, Omar Nakaidze, Ioseb Gioshvili and Giorgi Kukhalashvili, because they are not part of the jurisdiction of the Federation.

Besides this issue, the Executive Committee talked over “Zestafoni” as well and decided that the club dismissed from the Championship and it decreased to the lower league.

In addition, the Executive Committee also discussed Beso Abashidze’s (Chairman of Georgian Football Association) appeal. According to Executive Committee’s decision, given the fact that “Zestafoni” did not pay its debt to former players Shota Babunashvili and Tornike Aptsiauri and also coach Tamaz Odikadze, the club was suspended membership of Football Federation. If the club does not pay them this debt until the next congress of Federation, then this club will be expelled from the Football Federation.

The president of Abkhazian Football Federation Murad Anjaparidze and the lawyer of GFF Keso Chkhikvadze informed journalists about the decisions made by Executive Committee.
