Shapatava in MVP Top 5

Fed Cup participants will compete in tournaments in February. The tournament organizers summarized the previous season and named the bests.

Sofia Shapatava, leader of the Georgian female team, got in MVP Top 5.

Sofia is in Top 5 with Eugenie Bouchard (Canada), Petra Kvitova (Czech Republic), Kiki Bertens (Netherlands) and Agnieszka Radwanska (Poland). The official website of Fed Cup wrote the following about the Georgian tennis player:

“Sofia Shapatava had an incredible year as she led Georgia to promotion from Europe/Africa Zone Group II. Not only did she win all four of her singles rubbers during the year, but she also won all four doubles rubbers she contested, ending the year with a perfect 8-0 record. As Georgia was contesting Europe/Africa Zone Group II, the ties were played out over consecutive days, making Shapatava’s record all the more impressive”.

This year the Georgians will play in Europe/Africa Zone Group I. On February 4-7 Budapest will host the tournament. The Georgian girls will face Belarus, Portugal and Bulgaria in Group C.
